We all know that Community Service is very important. Not only does it give us a meaningful experience and a nice happy feeling, it is a great thing to put on your resume and university application. The work that you do can contribute to improving the school, the local community and the lives of others. It is also becoming a graduation requirement at KPIS.

Grades 9-12 are required to complete 25 hours of service and work education each year, to graduate with a total of 100 hours. More hours will be very welcome, and many of these hours can be completed easily in school. Below is a list of community service opportunities.

In-school community service opportunities at KPIS

  1. Assistant Librarian

Role: assisting Ms Christine in the library with organizing books, library management and library related project

     2. Reading Program

Role: Student will be paired with an elementary student and assist them with learning to love reading. You will read to them, let them read to you and enjoy books together.

     3. Peer buddies

Role: Student will be paired with an elementary or middle school student who needs support. This might be with social problems or their school work. Student will be given training on how to help students deal with their problems and to make their time at school happier.

     4. English Speaking Assistantship

Role: become a spokesperson to encourage English Speaking in our school. Student will create a campaign that reinforces the importance of speaking English through assemblies, presentations, variety shows, class activities and posters.

     5. Music leadership

Role: assisting Ms Pim with the running of the Elementary School Choir and Band. This includes directing, coaching and teaching elementary students.

     6. Assistant Art Teacher

Role: assisting Mr. Khirby with running the elementary art club. Student will help organize activities, teach art techniques and give students feedback and guidance in their work.

     7. IT class assistant

Role: assisting Mr. Jojit with running the elementary IT lessons. Student will help organize activities, teach IT skills and give students feedback and guidance in their work.

     8. Sports Coach

Role: Student will be trained in sports leadership to become an assistant coach to an elementary sports team of their choice. Student will work with Mr. Michael to gain the skills required to become a sports leader.

     9. Badminton Assistant Coach

Role: assisting Mr. Khirby with the running of the elementary badminton club. Student will help to organize the students, teach skills and play badminton.

   10.  Assistant swimming coach and life guard

Role: Assisting Mr. Gavin with the running of the elementary swimming club. Student will help to organize the students, teach skills and monitor safety in the pool.

   11.  Make it Big

Role: supporting various charities with service, fund raising and other activities organized by the students.

   12.  Student council

Role: represent the school and student body as a member of the student council.

   13.  Gardening project member

Role: germinate seeds, cultivate soil, pull weeds, and grow fruits and vegetables for the school’s community garden.

   14.  UN ambassador

Times: various

Role: supporting Ms Pim’s concert to raise awareness for human trafficking in Thailand. Raising money to sponsor a school in Mae Sot.

   15.  Office administration assistant

Role: assist P.Tham and gain experience with office administration and reception tasks. Answer the phones, greet visitors and handle paperwork.
