KPIS International School: Chemistry in Action

Grade 11 Chemistry students apply their understanding of separating mixtures through a simple distillation experiment. They extracted ethanol from a beverage sample using the differences in the boiling points of the components of the mixture.

Students evaluate and explain factors that affected the amount of ethanol extracted from the beverage sample throughout the experiment. They also learned how experiments provide an opportunity to improve methodology and quality as a vital part of production of products in real life.
