KPIS International School: Hour of Code

Our elementary students recently took part in the worldwide Hour of Code Challenge. This is a coding challenge where children from all over the world only have an hour to complete a coding-related challenge. The Hour of Code is designed to demystify “code” to show that anybody can learn the basics and broaden participation in computer science. In this skill-building lesson, Grade 1 and 2 students continued learning the concept of loops. Grade 3 and 4 students were introduced to the core CS concepts of coding and programming (using blocks) and simple debugging techniques and conditionals. Grade 5 students got an introductory experience with coding and computer science in a safe, supportive environment.

At KPIS, our students will have a clear understanding of the principles and practices of computer science. We aim to teach our students the basics of programming and enhance their collaboration, investigation, and critical thinking skills. Each concept in our course is introduced from the beginning and graduating toward experiences that allow for growth and creativity to provide all students with rich and novel programming experience.
