Thai University Fair - Laying Bricks for Our Futures On Monday the 7th of October, KPIS joined several other international schools from around Bangkok to make a visit down to the Thai Universities Fair hosted by Ruamrudee International School. Our juniors and seniors took this opportunity to interact with 48 different faculties representing 17 universities from Thailand. For the juniors, it was definitely a chance to broaden their horizons and learn about all the possibilities that are out there. From learning about innovative areas of study such as agricultural engineering to discovering exchange programs abroad our Grade 11s used their time at RIS very positively. Our seniors, on the other hand, got down to more specific admissions business. They got a chance to discuss admission requirements, required prerequisite courses, application…

Letters: High School goes to the beach!

Letters: High School goes to the beach!

Letters
This October, the high school headed to Samae San Island in the Sattahip District for their annual high school camp. The island, beach, and resort are all close to the Thai Naval base. Camp included the help of the environmentally-conscious group, Thaidos Three Barges, and visits to the turtle conservatory and natural museum were included. The highlight of camp was the second day, which was spent on and around the beaches of Samae San. Evenings included some music, quiz night, movie night, and a pretty cool thunderstorm. The students were outstandingly behaved and we are grateful for the time the teachers dedicated to the experience. Overall, it was a great experience! This is what some of the high school said about the trip... "I loved their passion for the environment…

Attendance and punctuality As we launch into a new school year, it is important to ensure we all settle back into a routine that allows us to maximize our learning and maintain our health. We are already battling the first round of viruses, coughs, and sore throats for the year, so the importance of healthy meals and a full night's rest are upon us. These lessons must be taught and reinforced by home and school in partnership to ensure our students are reaching their potential. These lessons about health and reaching our potential overlap with the need for school attendance and punctuality. We recognize that the concept of timeliness can vary from culture to culture and that one of the appealing aspects of vacationing in Thailand is that time can…

Letters: Sleep Friendly Bedrooms

Letters
In February of 2018, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommended that children aged 6–12 years old should regularly sleep 9–12 hours per day and teenagers aged 13–18 years old should sleep 8–10 hours per day. Students who get enough sleep may have fewer attention and behavior problems. With technology, traffic, social lifestyles, and other activities going on getting enough sleep can be a problem.  When speaking to middle and high school students in the morning as they enter the school, some students say they went to bed between 11:00 pm – 1 am.  If your child is one of them, then they are not getting enough sleep. Is the environment you are providing at home encouraging sleep? The National Sleep Foundation has 6 easy ways to make sure your bedroom is designed for your child to get the rest…

KPIS International School: 🖼️Celebrate The Arts Day!🖼️ https://youtu.be/EERpRVRPahM To Celebrate The Arts Day🎨, the KPIS 11th grade art class decided to show everyone how a painting could be done from start to finish. This was done by filming the entire process and then collaborating with the IT Class to convert it into an artistic time-lapse video. The primary goal was to encourage everyone to appreciate the arts of any kind. This project also aimed to assess students' artistic knowledge and technical skills. There is an ESLRs connection; of a self-directed, lifelong learner who takes pride in the quality of their work. Please do stop by at the KPIS Breezeway to have a look at the painting and to appreciate the creativity and hard work of the students and teachers.🎨🖼️

Mother's Day speech by KPIS student, Thanyasinee Rattanapol, Grade 12 student, KPIS International School "Hello, my name is Nuey from Grade 12 Since today is Mother's Day, I will be talking about the meaning and the importance of a Mother’s day. Mom, what do guys think of this word? For me, this word is just a short word but has a profound meaning. A mother is a person who gives without expecting something in return. A mother is a person who gives knowledge and does all these things with unconditional love even if she's tired, a mother will always find what’s best for us.  Often she may complain, scold, talk about the same thing over and over but this is because she loves and cares and wants us to be a good…

UNESCO representatives at KPIS International School for a presentation on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Activities
On Friday, August 23rd, 2019, KPIS International School had the privilege of welcoming a handful of UNESCO representatives to school grounds for a presentation on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The presentation, given to our secondary students, is a result of a growing relationship between KPIS International School and UNESCO. Just last year, KPIS became the first school in Thailand to host UNESCO’s “Writing Peace Exhibit” - a week-long exhibit which promoted the values of language and culture found throughout the world. The SDG presentation gave students and teachers a glimpse into the current state of South East Asia’s progress towards the year 2030 (a year designated by UNESCO to achieve all 17 SDGs). Furthermore, students had the opportunity to ask UNESCO representatives questions related to the history, progress, and…
